ÉireLore

Cultural heritage + NFC interaction. MSc with First Class Honours.

ÉireLore

Challenge

Preserve Irish legends and make cultural heritage engaging for younger audiences through an experience that begins with a physical object and continues online.

My role

I conceived the project and led a four-person team over 12 weeks. I owned character modelling, resin printing, airbrush painting, finishing, NFC preparation and documentation, and contributed to the website and technology implementation. The digital portal was a team delivery.

The experience

Tap a figure with an NFC-capable phone to open its dedicated character page. Explore the legend through written stories, multilingual audio, ambient music and maps of its origin. Language and voice-intonation selection was a key implementation challenge.

Delivery & recognition

Three finished physical characters and a working NFC-linked portal, with initial testing and presentation to the college community. I received First Class Honours for my MSc Interactive Digital Media. This is my academic classification, not a separate team award.

Design for production

I designed the figures with printability and repeatable production in mind, then modelled in ZBrush, prepared prints in Chitubox and finished them by hand. Industrial-scale production has not been validated.
